Chocolate Marble Cake

Chocolate Marble Cake
This is one cake recipe which turns out rich and butter , yet firm, good in taste as well as good for carving cakes to form different shapes.  Here in this case I made lightening mcqueen for my little son on his birthday

Ingredients:
  • 4 1/2 cup of cake flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup golden brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
Method
  • Preheat the oven to 350F/ 160C.
  • Remove the eggs, milk and butter out of the fridge before 30 min , so that all the ingredients are at room temperature when you start. I used one 10 inch round silicon cake pan which I sprayed with cooking spray. I also used 8 inch metal cake pan which I greased with butter and covered with parchment paper.
  • I have mentioned in the ingredients list to use cake flour, which is not very commonly available in India. But its very easy to make cake flour at home. For every cup of cake flour, add 1 tbsp of .cornflour to the measuring cup and fill the rest with all purpose flour. That's cake flour for you. Remove 1/3 cup of cake flour aside.
  • In a medium bowl, sift rest of the cake flour, baking powder and salt 2-3 times to make the mix light and airy.
  • In a large bowl, whisk butter and sugars till it becomes pale and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time making sure the eggs are incorporated.
  • Now slowly add in above mixed dry ingredients. Add 2 tbsp at a time and some milk after that. So you need to add powder and milk alternatively.
  • Your cake batter is ready. Divide it in 2 bowls. In one bowl add in cocoa powder, and gently fold it to get black brown homogenous batter. In other bowl add in your reserved 1/3 cup cake flour and add in vanilla extract.  So you have chocolate cake mix and vanilla cake mix
  • Take 2 spoons and use them to dollop the chocolate and vanilla cake mixes into the tin alternately. When all the mixture has been used up, you’ll need to ensure the base of the tin is fairly evenly covered, tap the bottom on your work surface to ensure that there aren’t any air bubbles.
  • I kept large dollops of chocolate and vanilla batter. If you want swirled effect, take a skewer and swirl it around the mixture in the tin a few times to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake the cake for 45-55 min until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Turn out onto a cooling rack and leave to cool.
